      HUNTER, MARY nee MURRAY was born in 1851 in Glasgow, Scotland and came t o New Zealand in 1862.  She was the daughter of James Murray, a tea mer chant, and Jane nee Blair.  Mary married Moore Hunter at Wanganui in 18 74.  Moore had a large property on the west side of Hawera, and the fam ily lived at Burnside (now the A and P showgrounds).  The Hunter family h ad considerable involvement in the early development of the Hawera comm unity.  Mary Hunter died on the 17 August 1943 aged 92 years and is bur ied in the Hawera cemetery.
