      (Research):HUNTER, MARY nee MURRAY was born in 1851 in Glasgow, Scotlan d and came to New Zealand in 1862. She was the daughter of James Murray, a tea merchant, and Jane nee Blair. Mary married Moore Hunter at Wanganui in 1874. Moore had a large property on the west side of Hawera, and the family lived at Burnside (now the A and P showgrounds). The Hunter family had considerable involvement in the early development o f the Hawera community. Mary Hunter died on the 17 August 1943 aged 92 years and is buried in the Hawera cemetery
